These Beauty Brands Test On Animals - Do You Use Any Of Them?

Although animal testing has been completely banned in the UK since 1998, this doesn’t mean that every product you pick up off the shelf is cruelty-free. I know it’s confusing! The UK uses different technologies to test the efficacy and safety of products like cosmetics instead of subjecting animals to pain and cruelty with them being euthanised after suffering those tests. However, there are many countries, such as China, where animal testing is not only allowed but obligatory should the brand wish to sell in those territories (oh, and they have to pay for it). Selling in markets where animal testing is demanded is completely voluntary. However, the brands are prioritising profit over ethics, leading to hundreds of thousands of animals being tortured and dying every year. A lot of these brands are owned by parent companies such as L’Oreal, Estee Lauder, Johnson & Johnson, and Unilever. Here is a list of some of the most well-known brands that test their products on animals either directly or indirectly or refuse to state their animal testing policy. This list is not exhaustive. Information has been collected from third-party resources such as Cruelty-Free Kitty, Ethical Elephant, PETA, and the companies’ own websites. The list is subject to change.

To learn more about what cruelty-free actually means, check out my blog post on it here.
